Just What are the Alternatives to eBook Overload?
(Why you should do this for your customers!)

If you have a customer like me (a repeat customer, an "information junkie," a reader who can't seem to get enough to read), you've probably got a customer whose download directory looks like mine:

And, yes, that REALLY is my download directory!  What's a person to do when the computer screen goes blurry (a little like the picture above us here ;-) or she wants to take her reading on the road with her (and doesn't want to carry the laptop) or  just wants to see the book in PRINT?!

Well, obviously, we can print our own copies of those ebooks that we really want to hold in our hands. I've done that a time or two, or three. I found out that printing my own took a lot of time...and money.  I  took the AVERAGE cost in time and money to print an AVERAGE 100 page ebook on any one of my five inkjets (past and present) and this is what I came up with:

Item

Cost

Per eBook Printed

cost of paper

$0.02
$1.63

cost of ink

$0.06
$6.50

cost of binder

$1.27
$1.27

printing time

11 seconds per page
19 minutes

cost of time at $20/hr

$0.33
$6.27

cost to print my own ebook:

$15.67

Another option we have is to go to a "quick print."  It's a bit more reasonable...ranging in price from $11.75 to $29.00 for a 100 page book, coil bound or up to $70.00, unbound, if you prefer!

If I had a customer like me, I'd want to find a way to solve that customer's problem!

Both the readers and the writers of eBooks should be able to print a copy for themselves (or their customers) on demand at prices they can afford...and the quality they deserve.
